Today, Dr. Shach from Germany visited us to do a check up on each child and to advice us on how to care for them. He has been living in Burundi for quite some time working in a hospital up in the mountains. The boys are all anemic, which is quite common here in Burundi, Doctor Shach stated. David, has a minor heart complication... I can't say the exact word for it as it was in french, but it's something along the lines of the heart valve not opening and closing as it should. The others have minor sicknesses but are on the road to health as we speak. Tonny's feet are healing well after cleaning them and putting alot of ointment. Please keep the boy's in your prayers!

I recently showed them a small piece of land next to the house that they can make a garden. The majority of the locals hoe in the fields and harvest many crops... we want to make sure the children also follow in their culture. Upon explaining to them that they could plant ANYTHING they wanted in their small place, smiles began to burst forth as one shouted "Beans!", another... "potatoes!", and Tonny, who is 3 "Spinach!" I replied, Tonny maybe Eric (12) can help you plant and teach you to hoe... he replied "Mama Malaki! I know to hoe...!" With such confidence! We will see. The food the children harvest will be what they eat in the future; although we were thinking it might be nice when family members come to visit them, that they could bless them with something small from their harvest. All of their family members, brothers, sisters or responsible's for them in the past are very poor, and could appreciate something like this. Simply giving back to the community...

We are taking in 2 more boys in the coming days, along with 8 girls in about 2 weeks. The need is VAST; like one couldn't imagine. Children, crying out in desperation to be remembered. Crying out for hope. Anyone can make a difference. Anyone. If you would like to support these children, we are presenting an opportunity for your to help change their lives. Monthly sponsors, prayer, partners, anything... simply anything makes a difference to a child who has and knows nothing. Until next time...
