Let the work begin!

And... Let the work begin! We officially started repairing the houses today and it has been a busy morning! Today, we are building a security fence with sticks and logs around the property, along with moving out all the previous belongings from those who lived in the houses over 4 years ago! There have been many interested people wanting to know what we are doing in these 2 abandoned houses... many people just passing by! I've learned its a quick way to get workers and work done, as many of them ask if I can give them a job. A man came by with different types of flowers and asked if he could plant some for a small price, I said sure... flowers are always nice to have around! Little by little we are preparing house 1, then off to house 2. .

Our goal is to complete both houses in a 4 week period, as we leave for the US in 4 weeks. While we are in the US, the staff will be doing child assessments off the lists of orphans we are receiving from the local churches and administration. If you would like to get more information or donate your time to help the children in Burundi, we would love to meet with you during our time in the states; email us at thecriesofachild@yahoo.com ! We have had much support from the local administration and government in every aspect as we move forward, and are grateful. Throughout the days we will be posting our progress, so stay tuned! Until next time...
