Our English Classes have come to an end...

We are sad to say that our English classes have come to an end upon Crystal's departure back to the US this week. Crystal joined us here in March to serve TCOAC and the people of Burundi. Burundi is currently transitioning to an English speaking nation in the government and schools as their second language since becoming part of the "East African Community". Upon Crystal's arrival, we found it vital to help Burundi in this transition by providing English classes in the mountains for free. She taught English teachers 2 nights a week and beginners 2 nights a week for about 10 weeks at a nearby meeting room. As we joined her at her going away party with the students, we saw the fruit of her labors for her time here. As they all expressed their appreciation and gratitude for her time, skill and willingness to teach them we were all touched. Of course she cried... and cried in the midst of their kind words... (I got her permission to write this!). They held the party at a local "fanta" location (fanta = soda)! They purchased fanta, banana, meat and cheese plates to share with all! About 20 of the students came to join the evening! Pictured above is Crystal receiving some gifts from the students, Crystal and Gloriousa and also some of the students that attended the classes! We will miss Crystal as she returns to the US and believe one day she will find herself here again! If anyone is interested in doing short or long term missions trips in the future, please contact our missions directors Ryan & Kristine Daniels at missions@thecriesofachild.org for more information! We need all the help we can get and being here in Burundi is life changing! Until next time...
