Our staff, such a blessing...

May 1st, the annual workers holiday here in Burundi.  It's a big day for so many to be recognized for all the work they are doing, in which generally is efforts geared towards helping people overcome poverty and development for the country.  It was an amazing day, the staff were very excited as they received a new TCOAC shirt (thanks to a local donation) with a picture for each that I printed for them with the staff and children together.
.
It all started early morning as we prepared our banner and got our uniforms on to head out by car to a stadium location about 30 minutes from us in Bukeye (which happens to be where we are building the children's village and somewhat of yet another prophetic sign as the Lord is helping us prepare for our transition.  We parked the car in a safe place, and headed on out.  Mari, one our volunteers from Switzerland wanted to join us and I was very happy for her to be a part.  As you can imagine, in the rural mountains being in the midst of foreigners is very rare, and if you find yourself in the midst of a parade with thousands of people you can imagine you will be circled by hundreds who just simply want to stare and listen to you.  I mean, a new language, a skin color many times different from them, and a culture that is nearing opposites - it's easy to understand their interest.  As it can be overwhelming for some, I chose to bring the crowd my way as Mari stood over by our staff.  I tell you, if you ever want to get a message out or have something to say - come to Burundi, head to a rural place and within a short time you will have a crowd ready to listen... they might not understand you... but they will listen!
.
After walking in the parade and entering the stadium, Mari and myself were welcomed to sit on the stage with the Governor and all the other people that accompanied ministers and government officials.  This could be because we are friends with some of them... or simply because I am nearly 8 months pregnant and the crowd in which I was standing was bordering a riot due to the fact that all wanted to see the drummers and mountain dancers...!  It was a long meeting with many speeches and so on, but important for the people.  This is their day, their time to be praised and given thanks for their efforts.
.
A few hours later, after the rains hit hard the event ended and we all miraculously found each other and headed out back to the kids to celebrate together.  Asira and Jose prepared and amazing meal and we brought all the chairs outside to share together.  It was one of the most laid back, humorous, easy going and simply enjoyable times we have ever shared with such a large group.  Really, to see transformations in the hearts and the joy of the Lord.. a joy that is bursting out from within, simply because of the goodness of God.  One of those days.  Thanks be to God, for always providing and being such a good, good Father.
.
Isai prepared 3 cakes for my birthday which was just wonderful.  We got home late that night, and just sat back and thought... "God, you are so good and have done so much for us".  To end with a special word for our staff, we never could of imagined growing so close with such a burden and passion to empower them and hope together with them for a better future.  It has been an honor to be serving with them in the Kingdom of God for the past year and a half.  Make God keep us tightly knit and may our hearts always desire the pure things of God; to serve, love and care as Christ did.  They are the examples and more that we once envisioned for our ministry and work; we are confident God has orchestrated so many things, He is faithful!  A big thanks for all those around the world who have jumped on board to support and pray for the ministry and work here in Burundi with TCOAC, together we are making a difference, God is restoring hope and transforming lives.  Thank you!  Until next time...
