BREAKING GROUND!

Today was our first day of "breaking ground" on our land! The village of Jeremiah 29:11 will be build upon our land in Bukeye, (Burundi, Africa!)... consisting of homes for orphaned children, a cafeteria and meeting room, a clinic and also a trade school.

What did today look like? 5 workers, 2 staff and Isai cutting down trees in the path of the road we are going to build to access our land. Malaki and myself enjoying the woods and giving my best effort to translate into kirundi for Isai when needed. The children are all on holidays for 2 weeks and are often seen in multitudes on the roads carrying bricks for some small money. When people come to me and Malaki all dirty and want to take him and hold him... usually, I have to admit I am a bit hesitant. But today, Malaki would eagerly open his arms to every stranger around us to go with them!... And at that point, what can you do! Dirt can be washed off, his clothes can be cleaned... and if hes willing, why not! It was a great day, and as we look upon our land truly we can envision our children and staff there already... as the houses will begin to be built in the near future. Our children are really excited to have a place they can really call their own. A refuge, a peaceful place of love and hope. God is good. Until next time...
